Behaviour change of one-day tasks in >= 3.7.2

Hi all,

I have noticed that if I create a one-day task on a Friday, in v3.7.2 and 3.7.3 it stretches the task across the weekend and makes the task finish on the Monday.

This behaviour is different to the previous version of Rei3 that I was using which I think was 3.7.1. I am not sure if this is a feature or a bug.

Not a problem for me, I'd just like to know if this is by design 🙂

Just tested a two-day task starting on the Friday and that seems to work fine:

so it appears the issue is specifically for tasks that finish on Friday are extended over the weekend.

Hello Richards,

This behavior is coming from the Projects app and the option of extending task durations if one or more weekends fall into the expected task runtime. We´ve done some work on the Projects app a week or two ago, and addressed some edge cases were durations would be calculated differently based on when a task would start or how many weekends are involved.

The behavior did probably change with the release of the new Project app version. I am not aware that we made changes that would affect this beviour on the platform level (eg. from R3.7.2 to R3.7.3).

Thank you for clarifying! I confirm that this is the behaviour of Projects app v53. I have also tested v49 and it displays the same behaviour.

So this allows me to refine my question to; should a task that finishes on a Friday be extended over the weekend?

I´ve checked-in a new release of the Projects app that now addresses the case where tasks ending on a Friday will span over the following weekend. This should address your concern.

Good question. I think we have not considered this case really. From intuition, I would also prefer single day tasks not to span the weekend.

I´ll have a look at the code and let you know.

Hi,

I'm asking for details of installing guide on REI3 for ubuntu, it was lack of details..... And when I tried to install REi3 and follow all instruction, the result is nothing I can't run it and i don't know if it is working.

Hello and welcome to the forum 🙂

Following the installation instructions, you should have a REI3 service running.
Please run systemctl status rei3 and post the results.

If you get a "service not known" error, then something went wrong during the installation steps. In this case, please repeat them and post what return messages you got.
