Bigger picture preview in form?

Hello,
is it possible to make the preview size of picture bigger in the item view?
I downloaded Assets: IT application and tried to tweak the "computer_product_list" form, but without success. Best I was able to accomplish is bigger on X-axis, but it's cut out on top and bottom of the square image.

Also max upload of the image can be 128 kB and I couldn't find a way to increase it.

Hello tomini and welcome to the forum 🙂

If you need changes in apps that you have not built, you can always ask the app author (us in this case) - either in the forum or via the feedback feature in r3. Please do not make changes in apps directly, as these changes are lost if you ever choose to update these apps. You can safely extend apps and overwrite forms, but this takes some experience to do - there is a documentation on how to do so safely.

Regarding your requests: I´ll have a look to increase the max. image size and preview field size. Please be aware that 128 kb is already extreme for small images. If possible you should try to downsize images to not flood your system with unnecessarily large images.

I agree that 128kB should be enough. Especially for smaller images. Mine are quite large and are possible to make smaller or compress.
I am in search of a database software for my collectibles and perhaps even inventory of everything I have.

The collectibles are the main reason for bigger image size in items view, so I can go through them just by scanning my eyes across - also great if any relative/friend would want to gift me something that I don't own already. The Assets: IT app seemed quite fitting for my use case if I did a few tweaks, but Rei3 sure is pretty comprehensive and it was just too much 😃

I´ve had a look at the form you mentioned. Unfortunately increasing the image preview size there would be detremental to larger teams as they would get much fewer results shown per page view. It is possible to make lists with larger preview images, but we try to optimize the apps for use for people dealing with larger datasets, as they are the ones most affected.

You can build your own app on top of IT assets and implement list views on the same data, which can include large preview images, if that would be useful to you. Just make sure to not implement them inside the original app.

gabriel Of course. I wouldn't want you to apply such change to everyone. One should not influence the outcome for many.

Can you point me in the right direction?
I changed the the pixel count, but it doesn't help.

I´ve had a look and it seems like we introduced a max-height limit for list views to address an edge case:

So right now, whatever setting you choose, it will be limited by this CSS rule. Sorry, I did not realize we had this limit and I had very little time to test things during the holidays.

I will take a look at the situation and how we can address this.

Adressing this will require a change to the platform, which is only possible with a feature release. It´s not a super-high prio item, but we´ll try to address it with r3.10.

I´ve pushed a commit for a large preview option for image columns in list views. This will allow for larger image previews, which can then be limited by the column size if desired.

It will release with r3.10, which is approaching feature complete state.
