Suggestion regarding Styles

The new update is really superb. Thank you!

I have a suggestion...

Can you add support for developers to attach one or more style-sheets to a project. Here one can only enter a link to a remote style-sheet.
And also allow user to attache one or more styles to a control.

This way it would be possible for a developer to customize the page as per requirement.

For example one can add a link h t t p s://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/bootstrap@5.2.0-beta1/dist/css/bootstrap.min.css to a project and then use the predefined styles in this style-sheet to format a control or element on page.

Again for example if one wants to make the button look like a pill all that one has to do is attach the style rounded-pill.

This would really prove to be a killer feature as far as UI/UX goes.

Hello Yogi,

This feature is definitely possible to implement.

But if we add this feature, it would be part of the customizing options for REI3 as it does not make sense to separate this feature from other customizing options. The downside is that customizing is only available for REI3 instances with a license (this is how we fund development long term).

Would this feature still be useful to you in this case?

I´ve added it to our wishlist for the next releases.

Regarding implementation: I would prefer a direct input, where admins can place custom CSS - maybe even multiple to allow for easier management of custom CSS rules.

Would that work for you or is there a reason why you would prefer an external CSS file that needs to be hosted somewhere?

This would also work for me.

It would be great to integrate third party CSS in R3 apps to change the look and feel completely.

My suggestion was aimed at administrators, so that they can apply styling to their system as a whole for things like Corporate Identity or general styling to be more consistent with other apps from the organization.

Adding custom CSS for each app would be very different and would come with some issues:

Not every app is updated regularly. If you update your REI3 system, your system CSS would change but the custom CSS of an outdated app would stay the same. This would break styling until its updated. If custom CSS is set by an admin for the entire system, they can fix or remove broken styles in one go - this is much more difficult if you have apps from different authors that act independently.
If authors choose to style their apps differently, the system would also look/behave differently depending on the active application. This can negatively affect usability.
It works against our approach of offering many style choices on a user-level. Right now, a user can choose whether they want round borders, dark backgrounds, more spacing between fields and so on. This would break down if specific apps would follow different rules. If you want simple things like "buttons that look like pills", it would be better to add this as a user option that works across all apps.

Especially the last point is the most relevant, I think. If I (as a user) want to change the style/look of my application, I want my entire application to look differently. If we allow custom CSS for apps in REI3 individually, this is not possible because the power is with the author, not the user.
