Predefined Theme

Hello. I was checking the platform. It is an exciting platform. I felt that its appearance is too boxy for today's programs. I think rei3 lacks a more advanced theme system or some predefined themes to be chosen by the user.

REI3 has many theming options, available to users in the settings page. We have updated the UI many times over the years, making things more readable and adding theming options. If you have specific suggestions on how to improve the presentation, or maybe some examples, please share. We are always interested in making things better.

Looks are however not the focus of the platform and we usually prioritize our limited dev time on functionality over aesthetics.

I can suggest, some predefined theme , available in settings page. and also some pages in admin panel that let user make new style visually for each components used in creating UI. otherwise user should read the code and all styles defined in source code to determine what in styles should be changed to get his or her desired appearance.

I am sorry but I do not understand what you mean.

Making new styles for individual components by users would be a big headache - as these are very complex and there a lot of UI issues to address when doing changes on them. A regular user would likely not be able to properly adjust UI components, style or layout information.

If you just want to have the ability to overwrite styles in your sytem, you can do so either via source code changes or customizing in the admin panel (including CSS overwrites).

Sorry for my bad English, I just want to say that it is not easy for common users who are not UX /UI experts to find and change the appropriate css style in the app. Given that it is possible to change the layout of pages in the builder, the ability to change the style of the components used on the page in the builder may help to customize the UI.

To make things clearer, we gotten used to refering to "people building apps" as "authors", to separate them from the "people using the apps" (eg. end users). So in your case, you are talking about application authors having more options to customize UI components.

Adding more options for authors is something we do regularly with official releases. We are adding styling options for font-styling, layout adjustments, etc. It takes a lot of work to make all possible combinations of all options work in all cases.

We will be adding more options in the next release (R3.8) as well, but we currently do not plan to extend these too much in the mid term.
